Process Overview
Agumi offers both an end-to-end solution as well as the option to have our patterners collaborate with your brand's in-house designers and manufacturers.
Initial Design Meeting
Our team hosts a kickoff meeting to align on the vision for the collection.
We discuss the client's concept, approach, and preferences.
Designs and Fabric Samples
Our designer produces the initial designs and provide recommendations for fabric, trimming, and technical ideas.
Once this is complete it is sent to the client for approval.
CAD Pattern Creation
Our expert patterners create the initial pattern on CAD software.
We primarily use:
Toray Creacompo 2 (PDT)
Toile Prototype Construction
We make a toile for internal review. We assess this toile and identify any desired adjustments.
Once the adjustments are made, a second toile is produced for review by the client.
Toile Check
Our team hosts a toile check meeting with the client to confirm that the 3D realization of the garment aligns with the client's goals.
Client feedback is recorded for subsequent iterations.
Alterations
Following the toile check, we trace the fixed line onto the toile.
Once the adjustments are physically transcribed, the alterations are transferred back into the CAD system.
Pattern Finalization
After the alterations from the toile check are applied, the updated pattern will now be factory-ready.
Pattern Submission to the Factory
At this stage we will usually email the CAD file to the manufacturer.
For factories that instead prefer a physical pattern, we have an in-office Mutoh plotter to print and cut the paper pattern.
Pattern Physical Shipment
If the manufacturer has requested a physical pattern, we will package it for shipment and send it off to the factory.
Manufacturing Instruction Sheet
Our manufacturing coordination team writes instructions on sewing and marking for the factory.
Our team can provide these in Japanese, Chinese, or English as needed.
Factory-Made Sample
Once the factory sample is sent to Agumi, we evaluate the sewing quality and the finishing.
We will audit for any outstanding alterations required prior to mass production.
Sample Review
Once the factory sample has been internally reviewed, we have one final meeting with the client to confirm before providing the factory with approval to start mass production.
The Agumi team has experience managing factory relationships to ensure that our clients' production deadlines are met.
